Cedar Falls is home to the University of Northern Iowa and its 13,775 students. The University offers action-packed NCAA Division I athletics, while its powerhouse football team competes at the Division I-AA level. On campus is the UNI-Dome, Iowa's largest indoor arena, which seats 16,400 for football and up to 25,000 for large concerts.

The recently completed Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center is the first major center to open in Iowa in twenty years. This $23 million, 100,000 square foot complex features three state-of-the-art concert halls, a soaring glass-walled lobby, and dozens of teaching and rehearsal spaces. The Great Hall employs cutting-edge acoustical technology, enabling the center to present artists spanning from chamber ensembles to the largest Broadway productions.

Also, new recreational facilities such as a leisure pool, a lap pool, an indoor track, and a rock-climbing wall are now being offered in UNI's new Wellness and Recreation Center (WRC).

Northern Iowa is known throughout the state for helping businesses stay profitable through programs such as the Small Business Development Center, Small Business Institute, Iowa Waste Reduction Center, John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, Metal Casting Center and Assistance Center for the Management of Hazardous Wastes.

Cedar Falls is very proud of the flourishing and creative schools in our community. Cedar Falls High School graduates about 96 percent of its students, while its average ACT composite score is 23.6 - compared to an Iowa average of 22.0 and a national average of 20.8. Also located on the UNI campus is the innovative Price Laboratory School, educating students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
